As soon as the project kicks off, the first goal will be to define the needs of your governance program. Once we have those needs identified, Ms. Coleman will begin to work closely with the sponsors of the project to build the framework for the enterprise-wide IT Governance program.
Ms. Coleman tries to use best practices, depending on the client’s needs and wants. The current standard for IT Governance, COBIT 2019, can be fully implemented, or tools from Gartner and general experience may produce an IT Governance strategy that fits best with the client’s culture. IT Governance programs can greatly benefit an organization simply by organizing data and instilling processes to review and approve IT items.
Why does your organization need Enterprise-wide IT Governance? Because in implementing a structure, you will make better decisions and run a smoother IT department over all. Benefits of governance may include: optimizing resources, lowering overall costs, modernizing IT, understanding and prioritizing projects, engaging business with IT, and many other improvements that can result in a well-executed program.
An IT Governance Strategy or roadmap can be developed to ensure that the program is phased in to provide all of the benefits and achieve success, long after Ms. Coleman and other consultants have completed their work. The goal is to implement a sustainable, and well-adopted, program. To do so, all processes, templates, and norms will be developed during the project work.
